The Fullness of the Catholic Faith – Fr. Jurgen Liias
“Why not just stay Episcopalian?” When Fr. Jurgen Liias, an Episcopal priest, felt drawn to the Catholic Church, people wondered why he didn’t just stay in his denomination, which had liturgy and theology that were already so similar to Catholicism. However, as an Anglican, he felt a sense of frustration at the idea that the looseness of its theology didn’t create a space for intellectual freedom so much as a forum for chaos and disunity. When he began to consider Catholicism, he thought its clear doctrinal positions might suppress intellectual freedom, but he found the opposite was true – that by being part of a Church that knew what it was, and Whose it was, he could live in a new kind of freedom in Christ that he never thought possible before.
