Experiencing Catholic “Culture Shock”

Dr. MaryJo Burchard and her husband had served as missionaries and pastors in Foursquare and nondenominational contexts, but they wanted to investigate Catholicism. Curious about Eucharistic Adoration, they read everything they could about it, but when they actually showed up, all kinds of things happened that they weren’t ready for. MaryJo shares how that embarrassment and other forms of “culture shock” along the way helped to even further convince her of the immense beauty and richness of the Catholic faith.
