As a born-again, Spirit-filled Evangelical Christian, David Sanborn felt bad for all those Christians between the end of the book of Acts and the Charismatic movement; he was under the impression that the Holy Spirit had taken something of an 1800-year hiatus and then reappeared at Azusa Street. However, when David began to dig into the lives of the saints, and see the Holy Spirit powerfully at work in their lives continually throughout the centuries, he realized that the Holy Spirit never abandoned the Church to its own devices, but rather that the Catholic Church today was still living in the unbroken momentum of Pentecost.
