Community or Chaos? – Steve Ray

Steve Ray prayed the “sinner’s prayer” at age four, but had his first real conversion of heart at 17 after hearing the preaching of Billy Graham. He went on to be a lay evangelist and Bible teacher, even going on to study with Francis Schaeffer at the L’Abri community in Switzerland. However, Steve was concerned by the fact that so many Christians who believed in the Bible disagreed with one another as to how it should be interpreted. He began to feel deeply the need for a traditional, legitimate authority to hold Christians together, and eventually came to believe that the Catholic Church was the means founded by Jesus himself to guard that authority.
