What passages from the Bible give the strongest support for the doctrine of sola Scriptura?
As Protestants, Matt Swaim and Ken Hensley would have pointed directly to the example of the Bereans in Acts 17, but most especially to 2 Timothy 3:16-17, which states that “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
Matt and Ken share how after examining these verses more closely, they came to believe that rather than clearly demonstrate the Reformation doctrine of sola Scriptura, these Biblical texts seemed to give forth a different perspective on the role of Scripture in the Christian life.
