John Carmichael – Catholic Revert
John Carmichael was raised Catholic, but remembers more about his grandmother’s practice of the faith than that of his parents. His mother struggled with alcoholism, which deeply impacted John’s childhood, and when Vatican II happened, John just assumed that the Church he grew up in didn’t exist anymore. He always considered himself a spiritual seeker, though, and when Pope Benedict XVI released Summorum Pontificum, which made Mass in Latin more available, John was intrigued, and decided to give the Church another try.
John is the author of Drunks and Monks, a spiritual memoir.
