Fr. Tobias Unnerstal: Former Swedish Lutheran

July 10, 2006 No Comments

Father Tobias was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Sweden but he didn’t know what it was about. By the time he was in the fifth grade he didn’t have any faith at all. When he was in the seventh grade, his family was going through a difficult time. Though he didn’t believe in God, he tried a prayer that he’d learned years before. Later, while on vacation in Rome, the boy Tobias entered a church and challenged the Virgin Mary to make him a believer. As time passed he became more involved in a high church Lutheran parish and was confirmed.  He became active in a Lutheran choir and was sometimes asked to assist with music at a neighboring Catholic Church. This began a long process that would eventually lead him to the Catholic faith and then the Catholic priesthood.
