Dr. Kevin Vost: Revert from Atheism

February 14, 2011 No Comments

Author Dr. Kevin Vost grew up in a Catholic family, attended Catholic schools and attended Mass regularly.  Yet, religion was not something discussed at home.  A moral foundation was set but Dr. Vost’s faith was compartmentalized.  Body building and intellectual pursuits were his passion during his high school years.  At the same time, his mother was experiencing a mental and physical breakdown while his father distanced himself from his wife and children.  Dr. Vost immersed himself in philosophical thought and the study of psychology – eventually earning a doctorate in the field.  He espoused an atheistic point of view in his teaching and counseling.  But, just as matters of the mind led him to leave the Church, it was that same intellectual inquisitiveness that brought him back.  Studying the early Church Fathers and the Scholastics, particularly Thomas Aquinas, Dr. Vost discovered for the first time the depth and truth of Catholicism.  In this episode, he and Marcus discuss virtues, intellect and will, as they compare and contrast philosophical thought with Catholic theology.

Dr. Vost’s books are “From Atheism to Catholicism: How Scientists and Philosophers Led Me to the Truth,” “Unearthing Your Ten Talents” and “Fit for Eternal Life”.
