Antony Tyler: Former Anglican
Antony was born in London of Anglican parents. During World War II, he was brought up in Australia. As a young man he was a devout Anglican, under the influence of the head master of the school in which he attended. In college, though he was no longer fervently practicing his faith, he was impressed by committed the Catholics he knew. His recommitment to Christ came as a reaction to the positions of a Humanist professor he studied under. For many years he worked in the British foreign service. Antony converted to the Catholic faith in 1985 and has written-under the pen name Antony Matthew-a guide for converts, “Pearl of Great Price”, aimed specifically at the modern convert functioning in the post-Vatican II Church.
