Growing up in an Evangelical Christian context, Fr. Sebastian White’s idea of a Sunday morning consisted of some good songs, a challenging talk, and going away feeling that he’d learned something that he could use to live as a better Christian. He thought the idea of liturgy was cold, unreflective and impersonal. However, as he started to reflect on the purpose of Christian worship, he began to develop more of an appreciation for the meaning of liturgy in the life of the Church, and how it serves to form Christians just like good parents seek to form their children.
Fr. Sebastian White is editor-in-chief of Magnificat.
