The Focus of Catholic Worship – Tom Murphy

When Tom Murphy was part of the worship team for an Evangelical congregation, he relished the opportunity to draw people into an experience that pointed hearts and minds toward Christ. However, he always felt a tension, because he worried that the attention on a Sunday morning would end up on him rather than on Jesus.

When he discovered the meaning behind Catholic liturgy, and the centrality of Jesus front and center on the altar in the Holy Eucharist, it re-oriented Tom’s sense of worship and gave him a renewed sense of excitement and reverence before the mystery of God.
