From the Salvation Army to the Sacraments – Matt Sheils

As an officer in the Salvation Army, Matt Sheils did not believe in any kind of sacraments akin to the way that many other denominations do; his tradition emphasized the reality that every believer was a sacrament, a visibie sign of Christ to the world, and so he didn’t observe things like Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

Matt shares how his study of Scripture and Christian history, as well as his reflections on the nature of what it means to be a human being, helped him come to appreciate the sacramental life of the Church for what it truly is: a participation in visible, tangible, means of grace that Jesus himself instituted to bring us closer to Him.
