Finding Friendship with the Saints – Sr. Julia Mary Darrenkamp, FSP

September 29, 2023 CHN Videos, Insights

When Sr. Julia was a young Evangelical Protestant, she began to discover the lives of the saints. She was immediately drawn to martyrs like St. Agnes and St. Maria Goretti; but for some reason, she had no attraction whatsoever to St. Thérèse of Lisieux, who just seemed to her to be a pious and distant figure on a holy card.

Later, when she became Catholic and entered religious life, Sr. Julia found an unexpected deep connection with St. Thérèse, and she shares how it’s caused her to think about the way our friendships with the saints form, and what to do if you don’t feel like you connect very well with a particular saint.
