What does “indwelling” mean? What is friendship with God? How does “friendship” help us to know God?

Marcus Grodi welcomes former Calvinist Dr. David Anders to this episode of Deep in Scripture. Dr. Anders chooses a verse that was “hard” for him as a Calvinist. The pair focus discussion on their Calvinist backgrounds, particularly David’s Puritan history.

Scripture verse: John 14:23

Dr. David Anders

David grew up in a conservative evangelical Presbyterian church, believing that the Catholic Church was the church of Satan. He attended Trinity Evangelical Divinity School to learn to debunk Catholicism. Through his study of St. Augustine of Hippo, who is revered by Protestants, he discovered that his teachings were thoroughly Catholic, as were all the Church Fathers! He discovered that his American evangelical faith was not found in the early Church, or even in the 16th century but only came about in 18th century revivalism. Now, Dr. David Anders is a Catholic apologist, hosting a call-in radio program Called to Communion.
