Colossians 1:24, Romans 15:13, and Hope in the Midst of Suffering – Marcus Grodi and Don Smith

September 19, 2019 No Comments

On this “Memorable Verses” edition of Deep in Scripture, Marcus Grodi welcomes former nondenominational pastor Don Smith to talk about the meaning of redemptive suffering, and how God calls us to hope, regardless to our circumstances. As St. Paul tells both the Colossians and the Romans, suffering is unavoidable; but in the midst of it, if we trust the cross, hope will ultimately prevail.

“Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I complete what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the Church.” -Colossians 1:24

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Romans 15:13
