Though raised Catholic, Jeff Cavins didn’t really “get” the idea of the Holy Spirit until an experience at a Catholic Charismatic conference when he was 18. In his youthful zeal, he decided that the Church he’d grown up in was stifling the Holy Spirit, so he started going to the Assemblies of God, and eventually became a nondenominational pastor. Along the way, his understanding of the Holy Spirit matured, and he eventually came to appreciate the Holy Spirit as not just someone who empowered him personally, but who was perpetually at work in Scripture, tradition, the magisterium and the lives of the saints.
