When You’re the Only Catholic in Your Family – Matt Gerald

Matt Gerald came from a long line of pastors and missionaries from the Methodist Protestant denomination, a branch of Christianity especially present in Mississippi.

So when he felt God calling him toward the Catholic Church, he wrestled with how to understand the good gifts he’d received in his Christian upbringing in light of the good things he was discovering in Catholicism.

He shares what he was feeling as he began to take steps toward becoming Catholic, and his concerns about how that might affect the way his family saw him. Matt mentions some of the challenging conversations that came up, but also some of the encouraging ways his Christian family has shown him love and support as well in the years since he was received into the Catholic Church.
