In the form of Christianity that Mother Petra grew up in, she felt sometimes as though the purpose of worship was to elicit an emotional response in herself. And whenever that emotional response wasn’t there, it raised huge questions for her about her relationship with God.
She shares how her time at Indiana Wesleyan was formative in helping her understand the different ways that different Christian traditions approach the idea of worship, and how discovering the world of the sacraments — especially the Eucharist — changed everything for her.
