Disability, Islam, Calvinism, and Catholicism – Dustin Quick

Dustin Quick was bullied for his disability growing up, but he found a sense of belonging through the music he listened to and the books he read. His interest in hip hop led him to explore the history and theology of the Black Hebrew Israelites and the Nation of Islam, and he felt set apart and special, even chosen, for the discoveries he was making.

The understanding of God that he developed while exploring Islam meant that when he began to accept Christianity, he graduated toward a Calvinist expression of it, with its emphasis on the idea of election. But the more he dove into Christianity, the more he came to believe that the fullest theological and historical expression of it could be found in the Catholic Church.
