Phally Budock – Cambodian Genocide Survivor

June 30, 2020 Agnostic, Conversion Stories

Phally Budock was five years old when Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge began a genocide in Cambodia that would eventually kill nearly two million people, including many members of Phally’s own family. When they finally resettled in the United States, Phally’s mother kept her faith quietly, but Phally wondered how a good and loving God could allow the suffering she witnessed. Decades later, as Phally began to understand the importance of forgiveness and healing, she revisited the idea of faith, and eventually found true joy and fulfillment in Jesus Christ and His Church.
