Patrick Flynn was baptized Catholic, but not very well-formed in the faith, so when he began to discover atheist writers like Nietzsche and Ayn Rand, he was drawn to their thought. However, the deeper he dug into atheism, the more he encountered questions that couldn’t be answered by the things he was reading. And when he and his wife gave birth to their first child, it got him thinking about the ideas of love, beauty and consciousness that couldn’t be explained in mere scientific or material terms, and led him to reconsider the Catholic Church he left as a teenager.
