Michael Goodwin grew up on the east end of Long Island in a home of devout Christian parents. From a young age, he was taught by his parents to love and follow Jesus while being encouraged to deepen his faith by worshipping and serving at the local, Evangelical, Bible church near his hometown. In college, Michael began noticing “gaps” in the Church history he was provided by fellow church members and his college. Thus began a long journey that would eventually lead him to the fullness of the Catholic faith.
Michael attended Cedarville University in Ohio where he earned his BA in Education. He then went on to join the Army Chaplaincy program and became a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Reserves while completing a four year seminary program at an Evangelical school in Grand Rapids, MI. He entered the Catholic Church in Grand Rapids at the Easter Vigil on April 24, 2011. He is presently preparing for the vocation of priesthood to serve in the diocese where his Catholic journey began.

Hi Michael, wonderful sharing.
Kudos to your catholic friend who introduced you to the Mass!!
To have gone through the “fire” of “losing loved ones”(their apprehension) and the “familiar”……to come home. Welcome home!….
To be steeped in history, is to cease to be Protestant..(Bl John H Card.Newman)
May Our Blessed Mother assist you to come to a greater and deeper perception & appreciation of His Call to the priesthood.
Whether you are called or not (isnt it always the catholic disclaimer….if it is God’s Will?)…..Our Blessed Lord is the centre and source of our Joy and Strength in this valley of tears….
May you grow ever more fully in Eucharistic reception and adoration throughout your life.
Personally, I cant imagine a greater service or love anyone can give us than our Lord in the Eucharist…..
Thank you Marcus for your continuing apostolate and the abiding joy we have received from all who have testified in the Journey Home network …. I have been introducing and recommending your network to all my friends and relatives!!!
Always in prayers and love of the Sacred Hearts.
