Kirk Ross, former Church of God – Abrahamic Faith

March 21, 2016 Conversion Stories

Kirk Ross speaks of growing up in northern Illinois in a faithful home in which his father, both grandfathers and his uncle were ministers in the Church of God – Abrahamic Faith tradition.  It was a theology based strictly on sola scriptura with a high regard for individual study and interpretation.  Kirk fit right in and approached his faith intellectually.  It was during his graduate studies in Austria, a country with a heavy concentration of Catholics, that he met a Catholic woman who would challenge his beliefs.  Their eventual marriage would inch Kirk closer to the Church, step by step, until his eventual conversion.  He shares some of that journey with Marcus, particularly the role that the Church Fathers (especially Ignatius of Antioch) had in leading him to the truth.
