Heather King – Formerly Unchurched, Convert from Alcoholism

June 18, 2019 Conversion Stories, Secular

Heather King remembers going to church services as a little girl, but that was about it. As she got into a career in law, drinking took over pretty much every aspect of her life and became her point of reference for everything. It wasn’t that she didn’t believe in God; it was just that she was so ashamed of her life choices that she was afraid to even pray. When she did find the courage to seek God, the Catholic Church was the place that she found the answers to so many of the questions that had been troubling her for a lifetime, especially in regard to grace, providence, and her own worth as a child of God.

Heather writes the “Credible Witnesses” feature for Magnificat, and is the author of a number of books, including Shirt of Flame: A Year with St. Therese of Lisieux.
