Fr. Jerry Brown: Former Episcopal Priest

Father Jerry grew up in Napa, California. His mother had been Catholic but he was baptized Presbyterian. After his baptism, his parents never brought him back to church. As a teen, while on a tour in Austria, he had an encounter with God in Salzburg Cathedral. Upon his return, he told his father he wanted to become a Catholic priest. His father directed him to the local Episcopal parish which he joined, eventually becoming an Episcopal priest. While working with AIDS patients in San Francisco, the witness and charity of the Catholic priests and nuns who came to minister to the patients made a profound impact on Father Jerry. He began a journey the led him to the Catholic Church, in 1995, and eventually the priesthood of the Catholic Church.

I worked with Fr. Jerry and his ex-wife at the Welfare Department and remember him well. As I struggled with my journey and discussion whether to leave the Anglican Church I found is journey to be a great encouragement. Thank you so much. It was wonderful to see where Fr. Jerry is today.
