Fr. Roberts was reared in a Baptist home. As a child he was a vacation bible school fanatic. When he was nine he was in a serious traffic accident. While recovering he would read the Bible and began to learn to listen to Jesus. In college he started as a forestry major. Dissatisfied with that he changed to a Theology major. Fealing there was something missing in his Baptist faith, he thought he may become a Catholic. Introduced to the Lutheran liturgy, he thought that would be a good compromise. He attended a Lutheran seminary but thoughts about the Catholic Church wouldn’t go away. He met a priest who was willing to answer his questions. After a year of Friday meetings he was received into the Catholic Church. Soon after he began Catholic seminary which led to his being ordained a Catholic priest.
