Dr. Matthew Bunson – Child of Converts

January 10, 2019 No Comments

Dr. Matthew Bunson’s mother was an Episcopalian who discovered a Catechism on the sidewalk in the Chicago snow, and began to read and pray her way into the Catholic Church. His father came from a Jewish background, and first encountered the Catholic faith as an Army medic in World War II. They both entered the Catholic Church in the same year, but didn’t meet until a decade and a half later. Dr. Bunson shares their dramatic stories, and also shares how the influence of his parents’ conversions has been formative in shaping his own Catholic faith.

Dr. Matthew Bunson has written a number of books, including the Encyclopedia of U.S. Catholic History, and his writings can be found in a number of places, including the National Catholic Register.
