Dr. Jason Reed came from a devoutly Methodist family, but his family left Methodism when they had some problems with the hierarchy, which caused him to question what Christianity was beyond his small town church experience. He had a conversion experience in college and got heavily involved in Evangelical campus ministry, many of the members of which were former Catholics, which led him to develop anti-Catholic sentiments. At Southern Evangelical Seminary, he discovered St. Thomas Aquinas, and that led him to rethink a number of his assumptions about what Christianity was supposed to be, eventually leading him to take seriously the claims of the Catholic Church.
