Dr. Barry Carey grew up as a United, or “Oneness” Pentecostal, believing that there was no Trinity, but just one God, taking new forms during different periods of human history. As a “Jesus-Only” Christian, he pursued a call to ministry, but his experience of controversies within his denomination led him to move on from ministry and pursue work in the medical profession. Along the way, he discovered a number of Christian writers who led him to take a more intellectual approach to faith, and they opened him up to everything from Church history to the importance of liturgy. Dr. Carey and his wife were eventually received into full communion with the Catholic Church during the 2018 Easter celebration.
