Austin Ruse – Former Methodist

August 21, 2018 Conversion Stories, Methodist

Austin Ruse came from a nominally Methodist background, with a few flashes of grace along the way. However, when he was in college and heard a professor attack religion, it bothered him, and he couldn’t explain why. He found that the things that opened his heart to faith came from unexpected places – dystopian novels, poetry, and snippets of history. When he finally realized that the Catholic Church would be his home, there was a lot of journeying yet to be had; he still needed to put in the effort to make his faith something that was a lived reality for him, and not just an assent to a set of intellectual principles that he found appealing.

Austin is the president of the Center for Family and Human Rights, online at c-fam.org.
