In this episode, former Anglican priest Michael Ward, who is now a Catholic deacon, shares with Marcus Grodi how the idea of the Christian imagination led him to an increasing appreciation of the Catholic Church. A devotee of the works of C.S. Lewis, Michael began to dive more deeply into the works and worldview of Lewis’ friend J.R.R. Tolkien as well, which also served to help him better relate to G.K. Chesterton and Hilaire Belloc. All of it culminated in the eventual conviction that it was no longer good enough for him to merely appreciate the Church from outside; he had to enter full communion with the body of Christ on Earth.
Deacon Michael Ward is the author of Planet Narnia: The Seven Heavens in the Imagination of C.S. Lewis.
