Steve G. Milam: Former Southern Baptist

February 28, 2005 Baptist, Conversion Stories

Steve and his wife were both brought up Southern Baptist.  His wife is a preacher’s kid and they were married by her father. They were strong Evangelical Protestants with an emphasis on the Bible and good preaching. They became leaders in a “seeker friendly” Baptist congregation with entertaining music and enthusiasm. After visiting an Episcopal church, Steve discovered that kneelers were helpful in prayer. He ordered some for his Baptist church and then began to receive catalogues from Catholic organizations, including book catalogues. He ordered copies of “Evangelical Is Not Enough,” by Thomas Howard and “Rome Sweet Home,” by Scott and Kimberly Hahn. Thus began his journey Home.
