Dr. Michael Root has taught at Trinity Lutheran Seminary and Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, and was for a decade a Research Professor at the Institute for Ecumenical Research in Strasbourg, France. He served as part of the draft team for the Catholic-Lutheran Joint Declaration on Justification, as well as Lutheran-Anglican and Lutheran-Methodist dialogue initiatives. In 2010, he announced that his convictions had led him to the decision to enter the Catholic Church, and since, he has continued to be an important voice on the meaning of true ecumenism, now from a Catholic perspective.
