Deacon Joe Allison was raised Baptist, and early on felt a call to be a missionary. After a wild streak in his early teens, he discovered Hal Lindsey and end-times prophecy, and it re-ignited his interest in faith. He joined Youth with a Mission (YWAM), and ended up working primarily on Christian racial reconciliation projects in Atlanta. Questions about the morality of birth control, and deeper questions about the dignity of the human person, were the backdrop for other theological questions about the unity of truth, which would culminate in his conviction that he needed to come home to the Catholic Church.
