Dr. Kenneth Parker’s father was a successful professor, businessman, and Pilgrim Holiness Church preacher who established and grew large congregations in North Carolina. As a result, Dr. Parker was raised in a home that was steeped in Scripture and and emphasis on personal holiness. As he got older, he pursued an academic track in Church history, and the spiritual treasures he found there, especially in the monastic tradition, drew him over a period of time to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church. He now serves as the inaugural director of the newly created Department of Catholic Studies at Duquesne University, and editor of the Newman Studies Journal.
Dr. Parker’s story is especially meaningful for anyone who’s faced difficulties in their career or family life because of their decision to follow Christ’s call into the Catholic Church. It’s a great episode!
