Here is an intriguing quote from Saint Gregory of Nyssa, Bishop, (330-395) taken from Monday morning’s Office of Readings. He describes how our new life in Christ–our new existence–is nurtured through the Church and her sacraments.
Would love your thoughts. – Marcus Grodi
“The reign of life has begun, the tyranny of death is ended. A new birth has taken place, a new life has come, a new order of existence has appeared, our very nature has been transformed! This birth is not brought about by human generation, by the will of man, or by the desire of the flesh, but by God.
“If you wonder how, I will explain in clear language. Faith is the womb that conceives this new life, baptism the rebirth by which it is brought forth into the light of day. The Church is its nurse; her teachings are its milk, the bread from heaven is its food. It is brought to maturity by the practice of virtue; it is wedded to wisdom; it gives birth to hope. Its home is the kingdom; its rich inheritance the joys of paradise; its end, not death, but the blessed and everlasting life prepared for those who are worthy.”

Awesome Quote!
This doesn’t relate to much to this quote but, here it goes anyway. I’m a podcast listener to your Deep in Scripture show, I love listening to conversion stories and how you guys contrast the Catholic interpretation with the non-catholic interpretation of scripture. I just finished listening to the show w/ Michael Matthews on Ephesians 2: 8-10; Galatians 2: 20. On the show you guys discussed that we are primarily saved, not by our own faith, but by the faith of Christ. I have never heard this before, is there some reading you can recommend for further explanation of this thought. Thanks for all you do and may God bless you and your ministry.
Stunning! It should encourage us all to make so much greater use of the Sacraments that God has given us to build us up in our faith by His grace
