Sister Teresa is a life-long Catholic. Both of her parents, though, are converts, her father from Judaism and her mother from cultural Presbyterianism. Her mother was simultaneously an atheist and a Presbyterian minister. Her conversion to Christ and the Catholic faith came from attending classes taught by Dietrich and Alice von Hildebrand. Sister Teresa’s father became a Catholic Christian when the couple began to have children. Sister Teresa became a Dominican Sister of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist in 1999. Marcus and Alice von Hildebrand talk about the conversion and life of her husband Dr. Dietrich von Hildebrand (1889 – 1977). Dietrich von Hildebrand’s father was an artist who was knighted by the King of Bavaria. Dietrich was born and raised in Florence, Italy with no religious influence.
