Many of you have given permission for other users to see your email address in your profile. I strongly recommend that you go into your profile and turn this option off!
Many spammers will "farm" web sites looking for email addresses. By posting your email address publicly, they will "harvest" your address and your SPAM will increase dramatically. They will resell your address to others as a verified, and therefore more valuable, address.
The system allows any user to send you email through the forum if they wish to do so. They can also send you a private message (PM) on the forum itself. It is not necessary to display or post your email address in order for someone to get in contact with you. If you do wish to send another user your email address, it is safe to send it in a private message, but NEVER post it publicly!
To turn off this option, click on "My Account" and then "Profile" and go all the way to the bottom. Make sure there is no check in the box next to "Allow other users to view my e-mail address." (While you're there, you can fill in some of the other information you've left off in the past, some of which are now required.)
Don't delete your actual address, or no one will be able to contact you, including vital forum messages that might be sent to all users.
