Hi, Tracy, glad to have you with us, and we look forward to learning more about you and hearing (reading) your faith story.  Remember that the only stupid questions are the ones that don't get asked, and we promise to treat you kindly.  We hope to learn as much from you as you learn from us.

Welcome to CHNI.

Welcome, Tracy!  I am a Protestant on the journey as well, and I am edging toward the Catholic faith, in part, because of the influence of some teachers I had at a Baptst University.

This is a great place to ask questions (and receive prayer!).  Glad to have you on board.

Tracy,

Hello and Welcome!  I just finished the process this Easter.  Ask anything and we will do our best to explain.  It has been an interesting, sometimes emotionally painful,  and always exciting process for me.  My eldest son has decided to convert.  My wife is agnostic but supportive and my youngest son couldn't care less about faith (Church is boring!).

Welcome to the Forum, Tracy! You'll find a lot of support, great people, very interesting stories, some awfully sad, some awfully funny -- but most importantly a lot of people praying and pulling for you as you make your Journey Home.

Great to have you here with us, Stephanie, especially since you probably know the difference between a donut and a beignet!  There aren't many of us Louisianians around here, so it's good to welcome  a neighbor.

Hi Becky,

It started with me getting frustrated with how the SBC has gone from fad to fad. I am burnt out with it all.  I went through a period of doubt, questioning my faith and just searching for the truth.  I started watching Coming Home a few months ago and it has helped with some of the questions I have had.

Thanks for the welcome!

I definitely know the difference!  Unfortunately I'm in Lake Charles and beignets are hard to find. I do love them though. :)

My grandparents and most of my mom's family was in Holly Beach for Audrey, and moved "to higher ground" in Hackberry where they were flooded out by Rita.  I live much farther east, but I have roots in southwest Louisiana.

Glad to have you here with us.

Until Nicholls plays McNeese, that is.

I must say though Tracy adds to us growing number of Alabamians on the CHNI forum.

Humm, I wonder now if -  I could take it, that this means we Catholics are increasing in number - I think the last figures showed we are 3% Catholic now  in Alabama :D
 No more :embarrassed:

Tracy, it looks as if we haven't heard from you in a while, maybe.
If you're still "out there," please accept my apology for failing to welcome you sooner.

We would enjoy having your participation here on the CHNI forum. :)

God bless,

It's a small world. My grandparents had property in Holly Beach and after Audrey kept the land but never rebuilt. Rita was bad too. It just didn't get the same publicity as Katrina. We are tough and resilient here though.   oh and GEAUX Cowboys. :D

Thanks I do have to say that the atmosphere here is very friendly. I have been reading some of your apologetics articles and am enjoying them. I think the lack of solid apologetics and teaching the fundamentals of the faith has been the one thing that has been frustrating for me regarding the SBC and evangelicalism overall for the past few years.

I also signed up for this forum yesterday.

I guess I have developed a recent curiosity about other Christian faiths lately, including Catholicism.

My curiosity concerning Catholicism stems from watching EWTN when I was in the hospital a year or so ago for fairly serious surgery.  I must comment you because EWTN seems superior to any other Christian television that I have watched.

And surprisingly it didn't seem too weird.  I only recall a flicking the clicker a couple of times because it seemed strange (once I recall a nun speaking on indulgences..but that is all I recall).  And I do remember generally receiving a spirit of peace and comfort watching the channel in my morphined state days 1-2 from surgery.  I also remember of watching this show on EWTN and it seemed quite interesting.  Once and a great while I still watch EWTN but I must confess to prefering baseball when I watch the tube.

Anyway, I might go back into lurk mode..I dunno.  From reading this forum it seems that its primary intent is for folks who have interest in converting from their non-Catholic Christian faith to the Catholic Christian faith (why the word "convert" is used from one branch of Christianity to another branch seems odd also but anyway).

No offense, but I don't at this time have any interest in "converting".  First of all, I would need to convert "from" my current church.  And despite our flaws, I have absolutely no reason to convert "from" my current church.  Again, I mean no offense by that statement.

Anyway, that's enough.

Hi Rob. It doesn’t matter if you’re “just looking.” Go ahead and look. Ask your questions (no question is “stupid”) and get your answers. We’re here to serve you, not to “convert” you. We figure if a person needs to make a move, that’s the Holy Spirit’s work, not ours. We plant, God gives the growth.

Hello, Rob,

Welcome to the CHNI forum! :waving:

Although I smiled and softly giggled several times while reading your post, I really do understand what you are feeling, I think. Like you, I was surprised when I first began learning that Catholics aren't really all that weird all the time. :D

I respect your attitude toward your current church. I felt that way about my past church as well. Just take an easy-does-it approach here, Rob. Nobody is going to push you to sign on the dotted line. :) In fact, you'll see that we sometimes encourage inquirers to slow down a bit.

You are most welcome to spend as much time here as you wish, asking as many questions as you wish. Take it at your pace. When you need a breather, take a breather. If you want to go back to lurking now and then, that's fine also.

We're just happy to have you here when you choose to be here and will be delighted to answer your questions.

God bless you, Rob,
Becky
