I have heard from many of you privately, so I thought I would post a general, public response:

We are still having server problems.  They have not been resolved in spite of frequent requests to our web host for assistance.  In fact, I have to say at this point that they have been no help at all.  I had to repair database files several times over the weekend just to keep the forum online.  I've been backing up everything several times a day just in case, but now even the primary backup procedure has quit working.  Fortunately, I know enough about computers to work around it and the backups are up to date.

Thank you sincerely for your patience.  Please be assured that you haven't done anything to cause it, you have not been banned, it's most likely not a problem with your computer or your Internet connection, and no one is mad at you for something you've said or done.  Other than spammers, we've banned less than half a dozen users in the last five years, so it's highly unlikely you'd be next!

Meanwhile, I strongly encourage you to copy (Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C) every message before you hit "Send".  If you get an error, you can paste (Ctrl-V) it to your Notepad and save it to be reposted later.

And finally, remember that anything worth having is worth waiting for.  :dude:

Thanks, Rick, for your hard work! I'm sorry you had to spend part of your weekend fixing things here. My hubby has to fix things that go wrong at his work (he's a computer guy) and he hates it. :?

Many thanks to Rick, as always, for his hard work on the technical end (about which I know next to nothing). May God give you extra blessings for all this labor for a good cause!

:tiptoe:Is it my imagination or is this site loading v-e-e-e-r-r-r-r-y   s-s-s-s-l-l-l-l-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-ly?  I don't have this problem elsewhere.  It seems both at home and at work, the links  take a long time load.

Just curious

Not just you! Mine's taking forever, too, making work a complete drag. I may give up today. There is nothing worse than a workaholic like me having to wait two minutes for something that would usually take 1/2 second . . . you lose all the "momentum" in a work situation, if you know what I mean. For me, work is always go go GO, non-stop. I did various kinds of delivery for years and that job was like that too.

It is not your imagination.  I'm at work right now (at lunch) and I work for an ISP so we have a direct pipeline to the Internet, and it is horrendously slow for me, too.

Phew...I'm glad it's not my 'puter.  Enjoy your lunch Rick.  I'm typing in between waiting for my reports to come up for my real "job."   Have another piece of pecan pie.:wantpie:And relax.  We gotta talk bread puddin' some time on another string.

I'm sorry you swell fellas are having troubles, but relieved to know it's not just my problem. I had been afraid to mention it since the last time I reported something, another member inquired about when was the last time I had fragmented my scans or scanned my fragments?!?!? :shrugging:

Actually, I'm pretty handy with computers and take precautions to avoid a sloooowwwww experience, and the other websites are doing just fine.

Meanwhile, I'm waiting at least three minutes after hitting SEND for my messages to post.

Do you think some force is at work to increase the general level of patience in our members? :winking:

This thing still moving at a snails pace for everyone or just me?

I'm up to my eyebrows in challenges so I am removing them one by one.

This computer, being one of them, is getting dismantled and sent to the computer guy for a thorough cleaning. My timing could not be better or more purposeful.  ;)   Ah the travails of willpower!

The good news is that it gives me time to go to the refrigerator.

The bad news is that it gives me time to go to the refrigerator!
