...as I've spent all my drive time since Christmas listening to the one and only item I had on my Christmas list, Father John Corapi's The Teaching of Jesus Christ [http://www.fathercorapi.com/The-Teaching-of-Jesus-Christ-Catechism-Series-48-talks-on-CD---200CDS-P125C2.aspx], coupled with some bedtime reading of the Catechism itself.
It will be more fun and informative if I can do this in concert with other like-minded people.
I've ordered the guide...
Bill

I've ordered the pamphlet, too. Thanks Steve. Of course, now I see it's downloadable for free, but apparantly, my pdf doesn't work and I always get a blank screen, now matter what I'm downloading .

Bill:
Love Father Corapi! I have purchased many of his video series's and share with friends and family. I continue to watch and re-watch them. GREAT STUFF!
I've been spending the last six months drive time with John Martignoni tapes. I really enjoy his teaching too.
God Bless
Betty

Betty,
Fr. Corapi is scheduled to speak in our area in August, so I've been trying to talk my non-Catholic wife into an overnight with me in the city where he'll be so that we can be there for all 5 speaking hours. I've gotten her to agree to 3 of the 5 hours, so that's a start. I think she's afraid she may hear some truth that she won't want to admit to...but maybe that's wishful thinking on my part.
I'll look into John Martignoni. Thanks for the tip.
Bill

I have started today and I'll make up the last 7 days as time goes on. I have been looking for something like this for a while. I try to read the weekly readings by myself and I was hopeing to find a list that would go along with the daily readings. I have been away from the church for my adult life and so now at 60 I am figuring out how to be a Catholic again. (I will introduce myself later in the other section for that.) But having spent so many years in strong bible study I know how vital this is for spiritual growth. And reading it together is the best. The communion of saints in action. I like to read a little of the Litany of the Hours for this reason. It is very strengthening for me because I am isolated at home caregiving and it is a real connection with you all.
One suggestion I could offer is to find the nugget each day in the readings. I think that if I can get one thing that stays with me and that I can mull over later I am much more enriched than pushing myself to read a huge amount of Scripture just to get an assignment done. Although, huge amounts of Scripture do not hurt. I am reminded of a comment by Dr. Dobson on the radio. He said that we are making a grave mistake when we think we can make quality time with our children without quantity time. That is so true of our building our relationship with God and His church, also. But having said that, there is nothing like having it go from the head to the heart with a little memorization.
