One thing for sure:  There is no cover-up of events in the Bible.  It is a history of man-kind, then, now and for as long as we live out our lives on Earth.

Absolutely, HelenRose.

Usually people try to cover up the negative side of history.

Yet in salvation history God is a step ahead (maybe two steps) to thwart the evil sides' machination.
The two daughters, brought up in wicked Sodom, stooped low enough to engage in an act that is unspeakably revolting. The result of that deed was the birth of two boys, who became the progenitors of the Moabites and the Ammonites. Lot and his family failed miserably. Disaster, disgrace, despair, and death are written in their epitaph. "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap"
Wow, what a lesson.

Kid.

I don't look at it exactly the same way.  I have wrestled with the Old Testament most of my life.  I look  from the point of view, that in spite of the evil done, God can somehow bring forth good out of evil.

I no longer try to explain away the injustices found in the Bible, especially in the Old Testament.  I simply accept them as part of life.  God has His purposes.  I love Old Testament history.  In the honesty of these writings, I find great truth and hope.

Do you still want any coment on this issue? Seems a bit exclusive, but I think it makes sense that if truth is only one possible conclusion that it excluds others from being equally true. Therfore, since no two religions are exactly the same, only one can be the correct religion revealed by God. I suppose they could all be wrong, but then none of us could have a chance to know God to the degreeHe would desire. And of course, many religions have elements of truth in them to the extent that they are accurate, and these are hopefully beter than nothing for their followers, or wys that keep them open to eventually discovering the church. Also, those who through no foault of their won do not know about the Catholic Church, may be somehow considered as belonging to this one and only acceptable faith through the faith they have in what they do know about God. But I was curious as to what you meant by interesting. Interesting as in a little troubling or stirring of controversy in your mind. Or just an interesting and bold statement?

Kid:

I liked what Dr. Hall said last night on The Journey Home.  He said that the Evangelical Christian faith he was in was like a pint container of grace, whereas the Roman Catholic Church is like a gallon container.

You can't fit the gallon in the pint, but you can put the pint in the gallon.

Other Christian faiths have parts of the truth, but the Roman Catholic Church is the only one that has the "fullness of truth".

And any truth the others have, they got from the Catholic Church (although try to get them to admit it...).

Pax,

Ruth
