OK, this may not fit exactly in this space but I think it is related.
Does anyone know if there is a resource that links the entire three-year cycle of Sunday readings with the Scripture quotes in the Catechism?
This would be a great resource for the clergy to prepare for their sermons, since they could teach the faith AND evangelize at the same time.
Peace,
Gene
P.S. If there isn't a resource, then I think it would make a good project for someone to undertake, someone with the technical know-how. What with all the talk on the Internet about Web 2.0 and mashups, I think this resource would make the perfect mashup for the Church.

I have not seen a resource exactly like what you are suggesting, Gene; nothing at all that would link the cycles of liturgical readings to the Catechism. However, the Companion to the Catechism comes fairly close in some respects.
The reason for there being no product or project such as you suggest seems to be that some “liturgical experts” think that in a homily the priest should not be “teaching” but “proclaiming.” For the sake of the faithful, both usually need to be done in a homily, just as Rick and I do in our forum replies, but I doubt that our opinion will be considered by those who originally made the distinction.

The actual Lectionary does include a table in the back that has all of the Scripture included along with page references. It is not linked to the Catechism, however. The Catechism version available on the Vatican web site does include a cross-reference to the Scripture passages referenced in the footnotes.
The new United States Catholic Catechism for Adults also includes a great scriptural index, and does a very good job of tying doctrine to scripture to the Catechism. It is a much better teaching tool than the CCC as it takes Protestant beliefs on directly. It is, in my opinion, a perfect "text book" for RCIA.
However, I agree with David that this should not be necessary as a homiletic aid for a priest or deacon. He should already know this stuff, and if he needs to reference the Catechism or the USCCA for exact doctrinal references, he should have no trouble looking it up.

It sounds similar to the format of a Bible Study I'd like to get organized at my parish, one that uses Scripture, ECF commentaries, Vatican documents, and the Catechism together. The goal of the Bible Study would be to understand how Scripture applies to our lives as Catholics, seeking to understand the words themselves and the consequences they entail for us.
