My son who was the most difficult- Rick you will remember some of his early doubs is now chomping at the bit.

Sad yes, but remember back in 1776. It was sad that we had to break off, but look what came out of that break!

There's only so much one can do for a patient that prefers to continue drinking and eating from its menu of one poisonous folly after another. Ye Olde Church of England is starting to resemble a dying diabetic that refused to reform its own self-destructive ways notwithstanding countless warnings and admonitions. First it's a leg, then an arm, then ...

As for schism, if anything, the United States' Episcopal Church, by going along with lil' gene's "consecration," -- became the schismatic trouble makers, not the conservatives who had enough.

Kind of reminds me of that old Johnny Paycheck song, "I'm the only hell my momma ever raised." First it was pooh-poohing James Pike, putting up with Jack Spong, turning a blind eye to Paul Moore, women deacons, then priests. They couldn't stop there, there was "bishop" Barbara Harris, then allowing any openly gay priests to get in the door, celibate or not, then lil' gene, and finally that flying imposter from Las Vegas. (How appropriate.)

What the hell did they expect? :shrugging:

Maybe I just answered my own question. Hope they like it. :embarrassed: :eyeroll:

Comment from Catholic Culture on this “alternative meeting” to Lambeth:

Up until June 23rd, it was expected that conservative Anglican prelates meeting in Israel this week would announce a break with the Anglican communion.…

But on June 23rd at the opening session of GAFCon, Nigerian Archbishop Peter Akinola, announced that there would be no schism, that secession would not solve the problem, and that the conservative bishops were “Anglican by conviction” and did not intend to start another Church. After that, divisions emerged even at GAFCon, and the whole affair fizzled into the latitudinarianism so characteristic of the Anglican mentality.

The article has barbs for three other “problems of disunity” as well: Catholic–Orthodox proposals in Ukraine, the ongoing saga of SSPX, and the continued division of the US bishops over the English translation of the liturgy.

Certainly not unexpected. Continuous subdivision and schism is the path all "denominations" take because they submit to democratic rule outside the line of apostolic succession and the sacred tradition.
