If you haven't seen your Sunday funnies yet, this might hold you over.
A "guy-site," askmen.com thinks the Vatican's irrelevant and wants a lot of otherwise dumb guys (and women, although I'm sure there are a lot fewer of dumb women) to answer a poll to vindicate their already made up "minds." (I get Yahoo's news bulletins for Vatican-related news every day and some of the stories are beauts.)
This one, plus its dumb questions and poll, surely fell into my "beaut" slot. Whaddya say we give them an impromptu "CCD Lesson"? I did, and to be on the safe side, I copied it in case it didn't fit their "editorial specifications." However, in fairness, I'll say this, most of the responses were by and large ON OUR SIDE. Luckily I had the smelling salts on hand! So, for the record, here's my response to a very pro and (plenty more than apparently) uninformed plug for the fast spiraling Church of England.
Did somebody named "JC" really write the first post? C'mon old chaps. Nobody in their right mind could've written such a praiseworthy line in favor of the increasingly IRRELEVANT and rapidly out of control Church of England -- other than Bishop Schori, the "presiding bishop" of ye olde American colonies' offspring of the "mother church" of WASP secessionism. Let me ask "askmen.com," Would you get on an "Episcopalair" plane with Schori at the controls and Archbishop Rowan Williams as its chief worldwide navigator? Watch where that baby's engines take them to!
Then I received a knuckle-rapping from somebody apparently trying to impersonate the big tough nun in the first Blues Brothers movie, saying had included some naughty words. Well, I did clean up the mess, but only for readers of this forum whose standards are much higher, to mention collective IQs. So, they got me back and being a good boy, I dutifully "cleaned up my act," but not without a reminder for their consideration. (I'll bet the doghouse it never sees the light of cyberspace.)
You said I included two words I "cannot submit." In Askmen.com? for crying out loud? And I'm supposed to "watch my language"?
Excuse me, but if you're referring to a couple of words that have already appeared in the very first posting, perhaps you're the ones who need to WATCH WHAT YOU PRINT with regards to the Catholic Church.
From what I could tell Ask Men isn't far from the "Maxim" mentality level but cleaner. And this combo website/zine--thingamajigsite.com for bored guys, whatever, just had to throw in the usual snide commentary about abstinence, etc. and of course, the recent ET as (very very separated brethern) from afar.
I didn't have the heart to tell them I haven't heard of any sightings of things looking remotely like Klingon birds to Planet Capistrano, named of course, after a real mission in a state that might as well have broken off and launched itself to Mars, with appropriately enough Gov. Total Recall. Looks as if we'll have to rely on what Schori and Williams have to say.
Have fun.
( Maybe this is what a "klingon bird" looks like?) Nope, it's an Anglican post-modern, post-something or another theologian.
To make a tragic story shorter, but with a funny twist added: I didn't make it in. But I couldn't help noticing a little statement towards the top right corner asking:
With over 200 popes under its sway, the Vatican is still shelling out religious laws to its Roman Catholic followers. Is anyone listening?
  Let askmen.com do the math.
