Friends:

Next Monday night, my good friend Tom Cabeen will be Marcus' guest on The Journey Home program.

I have been corresponding with Tom and talking to him on the phone regularly for over a year.  His personal journey is amazing, and I hope that all of you can tune in to the program and hear it yourselves.

The announcement of Tom's conversion to Catholicism* has generated a lot of discussion in the XJW community.  We are all praying that this discussion will open the hearts of others, dispel prejudice against the Church, and bring more of our separated brothers and sisters Home to Rome.

Ave Maria,

Ruth

*Tom and his wife were received into the Catholic Church on June 6, 2006.

Praise the Holy Name of God. Blessed be God forever for giving us these witnesses to the truth.

Excellent, Ruth.

Studying JWs and answering their claims was one of my earliest research projects as a Protestant apologist (going back to 1981). I have this material posted online (the dialogue is from more recent years):

Jehovah's Witnesses: "The Apocalyptic Arians": A Biblical and Historical Critique (+ Part Two)

Dialogue with a Jehovah's Witness on the Deity of Christ and Trinitarianism: Direct Statements of Jesus' Equality With God the Father: Jesus Own Words (+ Part Two)

Radio Talk on Jehovah's Witnesses From My Protestant Days (1989)

Just a reminder -- not that you folks need one :-)

My friend Tom Cabeen will be on Journey Home tomorrow night.

Please include Tom in your prayers.  The show has been widely publicized in the XJW community, and I am praying that many of those folks will tune in.

The Holy Spirit is working amazing miracles in the lives of these people.  Hardly a day goes by that I don't hear from someone who used to be a JW who is now interested in the Catholic Church.

Pax,

Ruth

I look forward to it. It comes on in 70 minutes, as I write. Our weekly chat is right after the show.

Just finished watching Marcus and Tom. Wonderful program. Now I more fully appreciate what a huge HUGE heresy JW is. The JWs who call at my house are kind, simple, humble believers who are trying to spread their faith by handing out some literature. No great theologians among them, just humble people who have been terribly mislead by apostates from the faith. The apostate teachers will receive their reward, may God have mercy upon all those they mislead into a false religion.

The JWs who come to my house are sweet, elderly black people, who get out in all kinds of weather to hand out their material.  I never open my door, just tell them through the glass I don't care to talk.  They cannot change my mind, I don't want to listen to strangers tell me in my own home that I am in the wrong church.  But I always tell them "God bless you" when they leave.

I think we should view JWs at the door as a golden opportunity to share our faith. You have to know why you believe what you believe, though, and have some acquaintance with their beliefs and the basic proof texts from Scripture that they continually bring up. We can be kind to them and try to gently suggest a better way.

Whenever we oppose falsehood we are planting seeds that can be fruitful later on. God uses every one of us to do that and spread His message.

For reference, Jeff Schwemm's Fellowship of Catholic Ex-Jehovah's Witnesses has a lot of good information for sharing with Witnesses who come to the door.  You'll find a long list of articles here.

I also saw the show last night here in Germany, and there was a statement made that really stuck in my mind:

"These people are not our enemy..."

I thought to myself; how true!
