Hello:

If you have not seen the Journey Home Program on EWTN this week, you should.

It is scheduled to be repeated at 1:00 P.M. ET on Wednesday, April 25.

Joy Pinto, the wife of a former Episcopal Priest,  has a wonderful account of her faith and her journey in to the Catholic Church.

God's Blessings,

It was a great show, and she was hilarious.  So not only did she convey a great, serious message, but she was quite entertaining in doing it.

I loved how much she expressed her love for Jesus.  I wanted to have my husband watch it with me and just say, "Listen to her tell how much she loves Jesus.  I want to love him like that".  But, I didn't because he was buzzed and I don't trust that he'll understand anyway.  I wish he could.

Love, Laura

I thought the she was GREAT!!! Judging from his facial expression, I think she influenced Marcus also. That was a program that will be worth a repeat or two.

I thought so, too, but I wasn't going to ask.  Next time, be sure and mention that you're a forum member!

I just listened to the show- I don't have satellite or cable so can only listen to the show on the web. I wish I could get EWTN. I did enjoy  the episodes a lot.  I have been going through the old episodes listening to one almost every day.

Thank you, Pam. :)  BTW, I noticed that it doesn't say Catholic in your profile.  Where are you on the journey?  Are you searching, taking RCIA, intend to cross the Tiber in April of 2008?  I also, am attending a nondenominational church with my husband and attending Catholic Mass as well.

God bless you on where ever you are in the journey.

BTW, I loved it when Joy Pinto said "I'm not playing Catholic here."  I can so relate to her attitude and zeal.  If one is going to leave Protestant land, (just love that term) and become Catholic, what is the point of just playing being a Catholic?  Why not do it with all the gusto and energy one has?  This was one of my favorite Journey Home episodes.  Another one I really liked was the Donut man.  He is hilarious.  And what a great witness for the Catholic faith.

I was wondering what motivated the question about your husband. Like do you really think he is consideringconverting but worried that there is no place or fellowship for someone with his gifts, or is that what you worry will be a problem for him if he does discover it? Does he know you asked the question or what the response was? Still praying for you. It was funny Marcus asked the audience to pray for you, because I did not know it was you, and I did pray for you. Then I just found out it was you, and I realized I already had been praying for you.

Hi there Brian,

Well, first off I thought of what Joy was saying about her husband and that he would only be a "man in a suit" if he became Catholic.  In other words, I understood that to mean that she thought there would not be a place in the Catholic Church for her husband to use his gifts and talents. He would just be an "average joe."  As to your second question, I am looking far into the future, because I have faith that the Lord is drawing my husband, (slowly) toward the Catholic faith.  And I can look ahead and see that this would be something he would have a problem with.  He would feel lost in the Catholic Church and wonder what his place is or if there is a place for him at all.  Plus, the fact that the culture in Fundamentalism/Evangelicalism and Catholicism is worlds apart and he would/will have a difficult time adjusting.  He does not know that I asked the question.  He was working that night.  t

Thanks so much for praying for me and my husband.  I really appreciate it.  Don't stop.  :D

Darlene

I was so tickled and just new it was our Darlene, Had to get the PM up and asked before the show was even over.  I've been waiting for nearly 5 years to recognize someone who calls in and Darlene gave me that wish.
I was thrilled.:D

We get a rush of new members each week after TJH  but we need someone to actually mention the forum!  It will entice more new members to know that there is a way they can anonymously seek information!

Darlene,

Hi! I didn't see the live show, but saw the encore presentation after I'd read on here that you had asked a question, so I was listening for you. Really cool to hear the voice of one of our own!

I've been praying for you and your husband also. I imagine it must be hard for him - what with his very evangelical friend and other friends of yours putting down Catholics and influencing him, and then your own interest in the Catholic Church - he must be feeling pulled in different directions.  And of course, he never expected you to become interested in the RCC. That's probably a real struggle for him to get used to that change.

I do pray, though, that eventually he will see the Light and come Home himself.

Btw, I think maybe we all worry too much about being "just a man in a suit"  (and some of us don't even have that much importance!).  If your husband should come into the Church, of course there's a place for him. It's Home. There's a place for everybody, whether it seems like an important place or not. In the Body of Christ, even a little pinky finger is important, you know? (But I know why you asked the question - from his perspective...). But you know what I mean, don't you? Everyone has some little gift to bring to the Table, even if he's just a poor little drummer boy, so to speak. Jesus only wants the gift of ourselves. That we give ourselves to Him totally is all that really matters. I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't already know... I guess I'm just half-wondering to myself why we (including myself) always feel like we have to "be somebody" to fit in.

Anyway, it was great to hear your voice on TV. I've thought of calling in once or twice, but I guess I'm too shy or something... :) I just know I would stutter all over the place. I'd probably be one of those people who would cause Marcus and Guest to have a blank look on their faces as they'd be trying to figure out what I was trying to say. :D

It was a wonderful episode, There have been so many that I have just loved.  I enjoy hearing the stories of all the different people with such interesting and diverse backgrounds.

It never ceases to amaze me, how each one of us found our way to the catholic church in all our different paths.

Glory to God!

Betty

Joy is on a truly remarkable journey! and one that has thankfully led her "home" into the Catholic Church.

I, too, was once an Episcopalian, and now am a "happy" Catholic. Many of the stations on Joy's way sounded so familiar to me, and only in hindsight can I see that they were "small" conversions before the final one.

Joy is so right: once a Catholic, there is simply no looking back. Her love for Jesus seemed to me to be more fulfilled.

Hey Y'all,

I just found the link on Marcus and Joy Pinto for someone, and thought some of you might like to listen.  It is about half way down the page.  God bless you!
