In another posting area, the issue of global warming came up. One of my points was that people tend to do the opposite of what they want to do or at least what they want others to think they want to do. In college, the student who had low grades and should be studying for the finals could be found at the gym, shooting hoopies to unwind before the test, which he was not prepared to take in the first place. It has been my observation that those who yell racism turn it to be individuals who are the racists. Then there are the people who demonstrate for animal rights but who may threaten your nose if you ask them if they are vegetarians. Or how about the people who demonstrate against the wearing of fur coats but wear leather shoes as they carry their signs.
This is not a new problem. The Old Testament is filled with stories of the Jews making promises to God and then not fulfilling those promises. Paul wrote about the problem in 1 Cor. 15:31 when he said he risked death (loss of eternal life) on a regular or daily basis.
So the question develops, "Is this type of behavior a natural human behavior trait or is it a sin? Or is it both?

On the issue of global warming, I keep wondering if this is just another science fad like coffee causing cancer years ago. I mean common sense would dictate that you take care of the world you live in but giving up life-saving food production or technology to do it doesn't make sense. (THis is a hot topic in my home school group right now)
To answer the second issue, I think it is a matter of damage from original sin. We are like that because of the damage which is part of our damaged human nature. We weren't meant to be like this originally. So if we don't make an effort not to give in to it, it becomes sin.
BTW, did you mean to post this in the orientation section?

I think it's a natural human behavior trait, especially for procrastinators like me, and I don't think it's a sin of itself. Putting off necessary actions might become sinful, but the action itself is not.
For example, if I need to take my child to the doctor and I put it off, that's not a sin. If my child gets sick because I neglected necessary medical treatment, that's a sin. So the sin is not in putting it off, it's in the resulting neglect. Does that make sense?
Like other temptations, putting things off can lead me to sin, but the behavior itself is not sinful.

No.
BTW, what grade levels do you home teach?
Does you school district or state require home taught kids take entrance exams before they can register for higher levels of education?
Does you school district or state require home taught kids take exit exams as part of their academic assessment process before moving to the next grade or level?
What kinds of problems have you had to solve in your home teaching system?
(Aren't you glad I mind my own business?)
