Washington DC, Mar 1, 2008 / 06:10 pm (CNA).- Presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama has promised to use the presidency as a “bully pulpit” for homosexual activism, according to an open letter released on his campaign website.
In the February 28 letter posted under the “LGBT” section of the “People” heading, Senator Obama said he would press for the passage of hate crime laws and a “fully inclusive” Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which would outlaw discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity.
"As your President, I will use the bully pulpit to urge states to treat same-sex couples with full equality in their family and adoption laws," Obama said.
Obama said he favored civil unions over same-sex marriage laws, but said, "I also believe that the federal government should not stand in the way of states that want to decide on their own how best to pursue equality for gay and lesbian couples..."
He pledged to repeal the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” practice that excludes open homosexuals from military service.
Obama said winning broad support for his positions was important, saying he would bring his LGBT activism to “skeptical audiences as well as friendly ones.”
"I will never compromise on my commitment to equal rights for all LGBT Americans. But neither will I close my ears to the voices of those who still need to be convinced. That is the work we must do to move forward together. It is difficult. It is challenging. And it is necessary," he said.

Well, if Obama gets elected (or Clinton if she gets elected), which is starting to become a more serious, larger "IF", I would risk a prediction that you will see the Congress quickly start to become filled with a large majority of Republicans, that many of the state governorships and state legislatures will also become Republican and you will probably see Obama pretty much thwarted for four years including his attempts to promote the homosexual agenda. However, if he tries to pull troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan, he is not going to have time to do anything about promoting homosexuality because he will be too busy fighting terrorists over here! Frankly, I think that the only thing Obama is going to do is to assure Rush Limbaugh of a job for four more years and, as noted above, be a great blessing for the Republican Party who will oppose him. That has nothing whatsoever to do with his race, that simply has to do with his liberal views and lack of experience. Also, the courts will get tied up with needless cases involving religious rights if he (or Clinton) as well as freedom of speech rights and other related issues if they try to push the homosexual agenda.
Mind, you, please, I think that God loves us all, yet, even so, there are certain BEHAVIORS which God does NOT love and among those are homosexual activity. And even if one does not believe the Bible, this tradition, this mindset has gone on for thousands upon thousands of years and it is NOT going to change just because less than 2% of the population (reputable science estimates that less than 2% of the population is homosexual) whines about it. If the issues are pushed, I also believe that somehow God will intervene. What I have long believed that God wants humankind to do is to find the cause of homosexuality and to find preventions and cures for it. I also realize that what I am about to say may cause some people to gripe, however, it has long been both my wife's and my opinion, as well as the private opinion of many who work in the social services and mental health fields, that if we (here's a CLUE) GET CHILD ABUSE AND, IN PARTICULAR, SEXUAL ABUSE OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE STOPPED (not yelling at you, just providing emphasis, ha, ha) the incidence of homosexuality in our society will either go down to nothing or to nearly nothing (ZERO).

Lord, have mercy! Well, I guess he's not a closet Muslim!

| On the news, earlier this evening, I saw where the Pastor of Obama's Church, which is pretty liberal, has been called into question because of his close ties with Louis Farrakan (pardon my spelling) with whom he (the Pastor) had taken a trip to Libya to visit Quadaffi (pardon the spelling again). The Pastor had also apparently been regarded as a mentor to and spoke highly of Obama! Obama may not be getting the vote of our Jewish brothers and sisters either!

I've been wondering about this. Both dems have been rather quiet on this issue, it seems, recently. They are actively courting such extremes in their party, and I wondered where the support for this issue was and why we were not hearing more about it.

You're not hearing more about it because they both agree. Both sides favor gay rights, gay marriage (by whatever euphemism you want to call it), hate crimes legislation, etc. You don't hear them talking about "abortion rights" either, because they both believe they are absolute.
Instead you hear them talking about health care and national security because these are two of the few areas where there are minor disagreements between the candidates.
