Greetings in the name of Our Merciful Father in Heaven,

(I really like to use some of this flowery spiritual talk, and I really mean it!)

First, I would preface this by saying that we should always remember that private revelations, the writings of modern saints, visions, appearances, etc. are quite secondary to the central doctrines of the Church, the public revelation found in the Sacred Scriptures and Sacred Tradition.

That said, there is a great wealth available to us as Catholics, as any kind of person seeking God, in the saints and their teachings.  So I have really been blessed by the Divine Mercy teachings, given through St. Faustina.

I find that praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet has given me great help from the Lord in my daily struggles. I will cut and paste some info below from the EWTN site.

Also, I found that the ABC's of mercy are good to learn.

A sk for His Mercy

B e merciful to others

C ompletely trust in Jesus

Oh, how much I need this precious gift from the Lord! Grace comes to me for salvation, and Mercy comes to deliver me from myself!

What a precious gift that John Paul the Great gave us in announcing the beatitude of this dear saint.

Oh, when particularly under attack from without or within, sometimes I just cry , Jesus, mercy! or Have Mercy Lord!,  ...over and over until the threat passes like a cloud blown past.

1. Begin with the Sign of the Cross, 1 Our Father, 1 Hail Mary and The Apostles Creed. 2. Then on the Our Father Beads say the following: Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.
3. On the 10 Hail Mary Beads say the following: For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
(Repeat step 2 and 3 for all five decades).
4. Conclude with (three times): Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

In 1933, God gave Sister Faustina a striking vision of His Mercy,
Sister tells us:
"I saw a great light, with God the Father in the midst of it.
Between this light and the earth I saw Jesus nailed to the Cross
and in such a way that God, wanting to look upon the earth, had to
look through Our Lord's wounds and I understood that God blessed
the earth for the sake of Jesus."

Of another vision on Sept. 13, 1935, she writes:
"I saw an Angel, the executor of God's wrath... about to strike
the earth...I began to beg God earnestly for the world with words
which I heard interiorly. As I prayed in this way, I saw the
Angel's helplessness, and he could not carry out the just
punishment...."

The following day an inner voice taught her to say this prayer on
ordinary rosary beads:

"First say one 'Our Father', 'Hail Mary', and 'I believe'. Then on
the large beads say the following words:

'Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity
of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement
for our sins and those of the whole world.'

On the smaller beads you are to say the following words:
'For the sake of His sorrowful Passion have mercy on us and on the
whole world.'

In conclusion you are to say these words three times:
'Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us
and on the whole world'.

Jesus said later to Sister Faustina:
"Say unceasingly this chaplet that I have taught you. Anyone who
says it will receive great Mercy at the hour of death. Priests
will recommend it to sinners as the last hope. Even the most
hardened sinner, if he recites this Chaplet even once, will
receive grace from My Infinite Mercy. I want the whole world to
know My Infinite Mercy. I want to give unimaginable graces to
those who trust in My Mercy...."

"....When they say this Chaplet in the presence of the dying, I
will stand between My Father and the dying person not as the just
judge but as the Merciful Savior".

Monte:

Thank You for sharing your thoughts on the Devine Mercy.  I hold St Faustina and her message of our lords mercy near & dear to my heart.

I was given her diary as a gift right after my baptism, I was already a little familiar with her, due to EWTN and a small book I had purchased with the Novena and some lenten prayers, etc.

Sister Faustina was actually the first saint I had every began a relationship with.  I've really enjoyed the freedom the Catholic Church has given me with the ability to have relationships with saint and new devotions.

Devine Mercy Sunday is a big day for me in my spiritual life.  I had never viewed God as a merciful savior before, I'd always viewed him as an iron fisted God on condemnation.  Not sure why, It's not just one experience that I could put my finger on.  My back ground was with baptist and I guess I always felt a sense of many looking down their nose at myself and my family.  They were always very friendly when you agreed with them and their practices and were not very open to a questioning mind.  I felt like I was weighed down by a life time of tremendous sins and could not get out from under the weight.

This is a wonderful devotion

God Bless

Betty

Thank you Betty for your comments. I hope that some of the people at the parish I attend will be open to learning  this devotion. I'm sure many have, but it is not mentioned much.

Your welcome Monte!

I forgot to mention, Every week at our adoration time on friday, The gentleman that sets up and scheudule's us Puts a large Devine Mercy image out for us on an eisle.  The group devoted to this message is small but every year grows.  Father supports it and that is helpful too.

I found it to be a kind of spiritual message and very fitting that our late Great Holy Father passed so near to Devine Mercy Sunday.  I have a devotion to the holy soul's so it all works in together.

It concerns me that maybe other's who do not believe in purgatory may give up on prayer's and offering's for their loved ones, So I keep a candle lit for them and offer my every day's joy's, work's and suffering's, etc.  I'm a chronic pain patient and I don't want to waste that which may be a gift from God.  My condition has brought me far closer to God then I could ever imagine and also to my husband & family.

Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ on behalf of his body, which is the church.  Col 1;24 St. Paul.

God Bless

Betty
